10 Bidders Singhpora – Vailoo Tunnel’s Construction Work

10 civil construction companies have submitted bids to construct the 10.3 km Singhpora – Vailoo Tunnel project after National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDC) opened technical bids on Wednesday.

This project on NH-244 (old NH-1B) in Jammu and Kashmir will consist of 2 tunnels – a 10.331 km Tube-1 and a 10.363 km Tube-2. Along with the approach roads, this strategic project under Sinthan Pass will be 38.611 km long and drastically shorten the distance between Anantnag – Khellani.

NHIDC invited tenders for its construction in August 2022 with a Rs. 3253.58 crore estimate and 1826 day (5 year) completion deadline.

Brief Scope: Construction of Uni-directional Singhpora – Vailoo Tunnel (Under Sinthanpass) of length 10.331km/10.363km (Tube-1/Tube-2) and its approach road of total length 38.611 km in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on EPC mode.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
